Pingdom feature tour

Pingdom makes it easy for you to monitor the uptime and response time of your websites and servers on the Internet. Here is a quick tour of some of the features.

Monitor that your websites and servers are working

“The Cloud” isn’t an entity that automatically works, it’s complex and relies on lots of critical parts that can break. Pingdom has the infrastructure around the world that makes sure your website, DNS, email server, etc works by automatically testing them as often as every minute.

Be the first to know if something breaks

When something breaks, because it will, we will immediately alert you in a way that suits you. You can be alerted via email, text (SMS), Twitter, or a mobile notification to your Android or iOS device. Before alerting you, we always double check an issue, so we don’t unnecessarily disturb you.

Easily spot trends in your performance

The results of all tests that we perform are saved, and the data collected is used to create graphs of your site’s historical uptime or performance. For example, you can see at which times your website might become slow, if there are any repeating patterns in outages, or maybe you have a scheduled backup which affects performance.

When it breaks, find out why

We make sure that you know about issues, but then you have to analyze the situation and come up with how to fix it. To help, we run some additional tests when we detect an issue with your site. For example, you can run a traceroute to see if the target is reached or where it breaks. You can also see server response codes and the output from a web server.

Identify broken and slow website interactions

Sometimes certain interactions on your website are particularly crucial and you want to make sure those parts aren’t broken or slow. If there are issues with the login, search, check out, or any other user interactions on your website you will be the first to know and can take actions to fix it.

Real User Monitoring

Know exactly how your visitors are experiencing your website. Analyze the performance data to see how it relates to browser, platform, country, or a specific page on the website. Real User Monitoring gives you insight into performance and helps you answer questions like, how does your website really perform from a specific country or web browser.

Share your data with others

There are several ways for you to share your Pingdom data with your customers, for example. You can set up a public report, which can look at to see the latest status of your site. If you like, you can even brand it your way. On top of this, you can create small banners containing statistics, Tweet about downtime, and send email reports.

Use it wherever you are

The main way to interact with Pingdom is using our web based control panel. But we also have mobile apps for Android andiOS, which let you view report data and see current statuses. Also, you can always access Pingdom is any way you want by using our API.
